Frederico worked in-house in the technology, financial and pharmaceutical sectors. His mains areas of practice during this time were company law, commercial contracts, intellectual property, competition and compliance. He has considerable experience working within the context of business and industry. Having worked both in the UK and Brazil, he has a sound understanding of the law in a number of countries as well as the way they do business. He is a proponent of UK/Brazil trade relations, and has spoken on the legal aspects of this relationship at the London Chamber of Commerce and British Consulate in Brazil. Since at Maxwell Alves, Frederico has taken to more contentious areas of practice and is the first at this firm to become a Solicitor-Advocate. His areas of practice include employment, commercial and civil litigation and he specialises in multi-jurisdictional litigation. He practices in civil fraud, professional negligence, economic torts, shareholder disputes, breach of contract, e-commerce, intellectual property, commercial loans, construction, joint ventures, real property, employment disputes, defamation and harassment. As the firm’s advocate, Frederico has also been involved in some immigration, family and criminal representation. He also continues to practice non-contentious corporate and commercial law. He advises clients on company formation, structure and acquisition, investment funds, intellectual property, tax, commercial contracts, import and export, employment and service contracts. Frederico has lectured in universities in Sao Paulo and his home town of Joao Pessoa, Brazil. He also has a keen interest in technology, the internet, physics and literature. Frederico speaks Portuguese, English and Spanish.
